Meditation in Audio Augmented Reality

(…) we have been taught to neglect, despise, and violate our bodies, and to put all faith in our brains. Indeed, the special disease of civilised man might be described as a block or schism between his brain (specifically, the cortex) and the rest of his body. This corresponds to the split between “I” and “me,” man and nature.” - Watts, A.
The aim of this project is to create the framework for the conception of a virtual room, that helps raising bodily awareness, through sound design, interaction and meditative practice. The soundscape is generated by tracking movement and is tuned to reward conscious movement by revealing more detail in the sounds.

The prototype created for this project aims to explore the possibilities of restoring balance between body and mind through sonification of bio-feedback, inspired by eastern traditional meditative practice such as yoga, tai chi and meditation.

My vision of the project is that it evolves to hold therapeutic value for stressed out individuals.
